I started with a pawn and knight, and from there was unable to resist building the rest. Given some time I might redesign the rook a bit. Also decagonal bases would be closer to circular, but I wasn't trying to hide the chunkiness.

Later in a fit of sanity I built a table-sized set.

I must know, the cost to build a full set? (the large set)

Piece count per side:

  • B3 175
  • B2 123
  • B1 222
  • B0 324
  • R3 65
  • R2 29
  • R1 83
  • R0 73
  • Y3 10
  • y2 70
  • y1 125
  • y0 8
  • connectors = 768
  • 1307 struts per side, + 768 connectors
  • TOTAL 2614 struts, 1536 connectors, 4150 parts.

If someone wanted to build this in black and in white, first all size 3 struts would have to be done with size 1+2 combos. Bulk struts come in packages of 100 at $29 each (black or white), connectors in 100 packs, $39 for 100 black, $29 for white. I'd estimate about $1700 (with some leftover parts).
